Dr. Galiano considers jawline contouring a significant part of his practice, which can often be achieved without invasive surgery. For example, Botox can be used to minimize the prominence of the masseter muscle, which is responsible for undesirable bulk in the angle of the mandible. Botox paralyzes and causes atrophy of this muscle, leading to a decrease in the width of the mandible and transforming the face contour from an angular, boxy shape to a more delicate oval. Desired results are typically achieved after about two Botox sessions.
