Patients can definitely still breastfeed after implants. Dr. Mendieta notes that while patients are commonly told they could lose sensation and the ability to breastfeed, he has not observed patients losing the ability to breastfeed. Silicone from implants stays within the body, separated by a scar tissue capsule, and will not transfer to the baby during breastfeeding. If a patient could not breastfeed beforehand, they will not be able to after implants.

Breast implants are very durable. They can withstand being squeezed and are commonly stated to withstand two to three times a person's body weight, or up to 200-300 pounds.
