Dr. Cannon's practice may cancel surgery or deem a patient ineligible for several reasons, including: * **Cocaine use:** This is one of the most common reasons for cancellation. Patients who use cocaine should separate their trips to Miami from their surgery date. * **Hypertension:** High blood pressure is another frequent reason for cancellation. * **Pregnancy:** Surgery will not be performed on pregnant patients. * **Nicotine use:** Patients who test positive for nicotine will have their surgery canceled, especially if large incisions are involved. * **BMI over 34:** Dr. Cannon is currently not accepting patients with a Body Mass Index (BMI) over 34. This criterion is not related to age. Patients should be honest about their weight-to-height ratio.

Typically, a patient is a candidate for primary breast augmentation if their nipple is positioned above the inframammary fold (the crease below the breast), provided they do not have pseudoptosis. During recovery, it is crucial to avoid returning to the gym or exercising too soon, as this carries a significant risk of infection.

If a patient desires a better buttock, Dr. Cannon recommends performing liposuction with fat transfer to the buttock (BBL) first, followed by an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) to address excess skin and the abdominal wall. This order allows for more aggressive liposuction during the fat transfer, which helps achieve a more hourglass figure and avoids 'dog ears' (excess skin and fat) often seen after abdominoplasty. 'Dog ears' are difficult to address without extending the scar towards the back. This approach also helps avoid what Dr. Cannon considers a 'boxy look'.

While some may suggest a 6-month recovery, Dr. Cannon recommends a full year for recovery to allow ample time for complete healing.

It is a common misperception that liposuction is a weight loss procedure; this is not its primary purpose. Liposuction changes the genetic distribution of fat cells a person was born with, making problem areas less problematic. Long-term, if a patient gains weight after liposuction, they will gain weight in areas that were *not* liposuctioned (e.g., arms, legs, face) because the treated areas will have fewer fat cells. To maintain the shape provided by liposuction, patients must commit to a good, healthy diet long-term.

For BBL patients, post-operative massages are super important for recovery. Patients should also ensure they eat well and 'feed that fat' to support fat survival, and keep their body well-hydrated. Following these recommendations will lead to a significantly better recovery.
