How can I tell if I have gynecomastia or just chest fat?
If you are lean and athletic with a full chest, it is likely true gynecomastia (pure breast tissue). Fat feels softer than breast tissue, while breast tissue feels hard, almost like a bag of marbles. If raising your arm flattens the chest, it was mainly fat. If raising your arm does not flatten the chest and it still puffs out under the nipple, it is most likely breast tissue.
What is recovery like after gynecomastia surgery?
The removal of breast tissue and liposuction during gynecomastia surgery is generally not very painful. Most patients don't need pain medication for the tissue removal and liposuction part.
