Patients should stick with the neurotoxin that has been working for them, and there's no reason to switch unless the current one stops working. The ratio of Dysport to Botox units is 3:1, meaning three units of Dysport for every one unit of Botox.

The masseter muscle is attached to the mandible (jaw) and inserts onto the cheek (lateral zygoma). It is responsible for helping us chew. The masseter muscle can be treated for TMJ (temporomandibular dysfunction), which can cause jaw discomfort, clenching, grinding, or overall discomfort in the area. Botox helps atrophy the masseter muscle, weakening it to some degree and shrinking the muscle. Botox can be used to slim the face and create a heart-shaped face in the right candidate. For TMJ treatment, we would probably recommend up to 25 to 30 units of Botox per side. For a first-time Botox treatment for TMJ, we are going to do 15 units per side.
